PROGRAMS
Wayne State University is the major
urban university in Michigan located in the heart of Detroit's
University Cultural Center. Consistent with its urban mission,
the University utilizes the city's vast social, cultural and
scientific resources to enrich its educational programs and to
stimulate research. It is a Carnegie Research University I and
a Holmes Group member. The College of Education is one of 14
schools and colleges at Wayne State University. It currently
enrolls over 1,400 undergraduate and 2,400 graduate students
in 34 different programs.
The Division of Kinesiology, Health
and Sport Studies (KHS), as one of four academic divisions of
the College of Education and as an integral part of a general
education, focuses particular attention upon the vital needs
of people to acquire attitudes, knowledge and skills necessary
for regular participation in healthful living and physical and
leisure-time activities. Accordingly, it offers courses of instruction
in Health Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, and Sports
Administration for the general student body and provides
professional curricula at the undergraduate and graduate levels
for those students seeking careers in these areas. Moreover,
a program in driver education is offered. Many of the KHS course
offerings may also be used to meet degree and curricular requirements
of other schools and colleges of the University.
